Dry Mouth - Xerostomia

Do you have a dry mouth? Does your mouth often feels dry, sticky or your tongue rough? Do you have cracked lips?

A threat to your teeth, this condition results in bad breath, a sore throat, burning tongue. You are more prone to tooth decay and periodontal disease.

Dry mouth is often the result of conditions such as diabetes, arthritis, radiation to head and neck; medications such as antihistamines, decongestants, chemotherapy, medications for depression, high blood pressure, Parkinson's and many more.

For relief, try sucking on sugar free candy, drinking lots of water, breathing through your nose and using a humidifier while you sleep. If medication could be the cause, speak with your doctor or pharmacist about reducing the dosage or switching treatments.
